Job Description

Location: Moody Outpatient Center

Core Hours: Monday- Friday- 8am-5pm (No Weekends, No Holidays)

*Previous Oncology Experience a plus

Primary Purpose
Responsible for organizing and coordinating Performance Improvement and Patient Safety activities at a departmental level within Parkland.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a health related field.

Experience:

  • Must have five years of experience working with performance improvement issues.

Equivalent Experience:

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

Laboratory Services Only:
Must be certified by one of the following:

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) – American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • Medical Technologist (MT) – Department of Health Services (HHS) formerly (HEW)
  • Medical Technologist (MT) – American Medical Technologist (AMT)
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – national certification agency

Nurses Only:

  • Must have current RN license or valid temporary license with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
  • Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:
  • American Heart Association
  • American Red Cross Rescuer
  • Military Training Network.

Skills or Special Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of data management and process improvement.
  • Must have knowledge of Joint Commission standards and their interpretation as related to areas of responsibility.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to operate a computer to input and extract information using word processing, spread sheet and data base software.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to employ effective problem solving and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors.
  • Nurses Only: Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
