Sargent Art Lab and Building Assistant (Student)

POSITION SUMMARY: Monitoring the building and being available for guests who may have questions about a current exhibition. The Sargent Art Building is open every evening and Saturday. Position starts August 2023.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Check the studios and labs for cleanliness and orderliness and promote a general atmosphere conducive to learning and study
• Report repair needs and supplies that need to be replenished
• Monitor the check-in/out sheets for certain rooms
• Ability to take care of problems in the building should they arise
• Answer questions from students and faculty regarding use of technology in the rooms
• Troubleshoot basic issues with computers, cables, overhead projectors, printers and software
• Make sure the classrooms and studios are tidy at the end of the evening
• Close down the building when the evening is over

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University
• Preferably an art major so if there are guests that have questions, those questions can be answered with understanding of art and the programs
• Experience using Mac computers and Creative Cloud applications
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle situations in a mature and Christ-like fashion
• Dependability
